Mirror-backed vivarium?

Just wondering--is there any reason to avoid having a mirror at the back of a corn-snake's habitat? Would it be confusing, or too bright, or make him/her feel too exposed?

I think a mirror would be very pretty, but wouldn't want to stress the snake out. Opinions? (I'm still "building" my perfect vivarium in my head, :p)

Personally, I wouldn't have a mirror in with my snake. I don't think it would make them feel very secure. But, I've never used one, so this post is opinion-based only.

to be honest, i would guess that the walls of a glass tank are very much like a mirror anyways, especially if its lit from the inside, and dark outside....

I'm not sure though. Kind of a neat idea....

I suppose this one is all up to personal opinion and how relaxed your snakey is. It's not something you'll find on a care sheet or in books anyway :)

Personally, I wouldn't. Corns like smallish spaces and a mirror would make the space in the viv look twice as big (unless you've got lots of decorations).. When someone walks by they'd see the reflected version as well which may confuse! Mine has never been too bothered by mirrors, but I'm sure some would be spooked out seeing their own reflection slithering next to them.

Hmmm...! :)

Thanks for the thoughts! I wondered about the security thing. It sounds like maybe it's not such a fabulous idea. Besides, who wants to be staring at themselves when they're trying to find their snake? :p
