Mite borrowed in eye?

Hello,

I wanted to know if you thought this could be a mite, or something else (see pictures... sorry I couldn't get a better shot)? The reason I'm wondering mite is because at the beginning of the week I spotted what I think was a single mite crawling on its head. About the size of this period. I removed it with a Q-tip and following the advice here, removed all bedding and replaced with paper towels. I haven't seen anymore on it or the towels.

I tried giving it a bath but I could only keep it in for a few minutes before it nearly escaped.

Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thank you so much!

Sure looks odd. But, the eye is covered with a spectacle scale, so something can't really get into the eye, can it??

I feel like the scale looks deformed by the black thing pressing out on it. If you push up from under it with your fingernail, does anything happen??

Yep. That is a favorite place for mites. Another is in the folds of the skin under the lower jaw.
