i'm planning about getting one but I have heard some very frighting stories about nile monitors I also heard some aussie monitors are docile enough to even let you pick up a wild one or should I stick to a iguana with a painful pet all in well less painful then a monitor slash or bite:blowhead:

Nile Monitors and other large species DO NOT MAKE GOOD PETS. A 7 foot monitor has the capacity to kill, if not seriously mame... Not to mention the cage size required to properly house the animal

Ackie's are awesome, they're a dwarf monitor species from Australia. They're not, however, inexpensive.
