K i remember a while ago somone had a hybrid mouse/gerbil they found in their mouse colony? does anybody eles remember that and who was it?

never heard of it

it seems impossible, since the species are so genetically different. I did have a male mouse living with a female gerbil for a long time (she was lonely, hubby thought he would help by giving her a mouse buddy) and there were no offspring. They did mate repeatedly, just no babies. As it is, I am surprised that they mated so readily.

they may be able to reproduce, but i doubt it. and even if they did, likely the resulting offspring would be sterile.
