mouthed his food then left it alone

hey there. last night i tried to feed the snake a fuzzy. (he has had them before) he mouthed it then let go (twice) and then never ate.
any input?

Try again in a few days but check out some other methods listed in the FAQs. Ive always cut slices in the back of the fuzzies necks. My snake doesnt usually show much intrest until he smells where the cuts are, then its chow time.

From your description, it sounds like your snake was feeding out in the open. A couple of mine went through phases where they wouldn't eat out in the open. When you try next, if you find that your snake is showing interest but won't actually eat, try putting it in a dark container (with holes) and leave it alone for a couple of hours.

Also, was the mouse warm enough? 101-103F? As was already said, I have one (Choco) that sometimes eats immediately, out in the open, but other times likes me to put a black T-shirt over his feeding container.

The only time I've seen one pick up a mouse and then spit it out was Inez when I increased prey size and she didn't think she could handle it. I downsized the mouse right then, and she ate normally.

it was live. i dont have a local store that sells pre killed. i offered him a pinky too and he didnt take it. ill try again in a few days.
