Mozilla software?

I have been using Mozilla Firefox for a long time and love it, but have never used Mozilla Thunderbird (Mozilla's equivalent to Microsoft Outlook). So I was just wondering if anyone here has used Thunderbird and could tell me how it compairs to Outlook? Or how secure it is?

Yeah lots of people still use out look just because you don't, doesn't mean that no one else dose.

I know that was sarcasm Joe and so is what is written above. But I am trying to get info on thunderbird not useless sarcastic replies that just take up space.

Thanks for the comment any ways.

Been using Thunderbird for ages now (since 0.9 beta if I remember right).

Never had any bother with it and perfectly happy using it. Can't vouch for it being any more or less secure than Outlook as I'm by no means an expert on e-mail client security. It does allow you to easily turn off embedded imaging and scripting though which can only be a good thing I suppose.

My husband and I each used a copy of Thunderbird on each of our (separate) computers. We used it for a year or more and were very happy - worked a lot like Outlook Express, and took care of spam quite well. But then Bill's copy started having a lot of "glitches" and eventually stopped working, so he switched back to Outlook Express. Soon after, my copy started acting "weird" and some folders became corrupted for no apparent reason. So I also switched back to OE.

But I still use the Mozzilla Firefox browser, and have a lot less pop ups than with IE. But there are occasionally times when it can't run a particular website, I think because I need a copy of something extra. Since I am not a computer person, it is easier to switch to IE for a moment now and then, rather than try to figure out why it doesn't work 100% of the time.

I do regular updates on both, Thunderbird and Firefox and never had any problems with both of them.
Thunderbird is imho faster than Outlook and OE, it's free, you can have loads of plugin-ins and again - it's free. :grin01:
You just have to take care of one thing - if you "delete" an email, it isn't really deleted from the harddisc. If you wan't to have that, you have to "Compact the Folder" - otherwise it's just out of your sight and I've heard of people having 700-1000MB MailFolders just because they never really deleted the mails from the harddisc. I think that should be describe better for novices working with Thunderbird.
