It's eating a rat pinkie

Wow how old is your snake? and how big? and was the rat pinky alive??? HMMM I think it was it wasnt that nasty looking color from the frozen ones...:D

it's a thawed pinky, and the snake is about 2 feet long. Not sure how old the snake is but it just blasts through mice pinkies/fuzzies/hoppers. I was quite shocked when it started eating rat pinkies. Tried it once cuz it was all the pet store had and I was just in awe that it ate it. Been eating them for awhile now. My kingsnake won't even eat them yet and it's a couple inches longer and quite a bit bigger around than the corn.

I keep referring to the cornsnake as "the snake" because I still don't have a name for it. Thinkin piggy hehe

those are some very nice feeding pics but I couldn't help but notice that you fed your corn on it's shavings.... you should be aware that those shavings can stick to the pinky and be swallowed by your corn and can cause impaction (get caught up in their guts and cause them to be un able to poop). This can be a very serious problem requiring vet care and costly operations. I recommend feeding in a seperate container with no shavings in it. That's what I, and many others on the forum, do.

I am aware of the impaction thing Katie, I keep a close eye on the snake and pinky to make sure he doesn't swallow any. There's only been a couple of times but it the shavings were right at the end of the pinky and the snake just spit them out :)

I'll probably start doing what I do with my kingsnake and just cover about half the bottom w/ paper :)

i had a corn snake that choked on a pinkie and died, i was wondering if it is easy to find pinkies small enough to feed new borns without a risk of choking

P.S. cool snake

I agree with Katie. It is just not worth the risk to make your snake sick. I always feed outside of their cage with no substrate.
