I just received my 2006 Corn Morph Guide. I was very excited and read the whole book and decided to go ahead and see if I could figure out what the resulting babies would be from breeding my 2 05 het diffused/bloodred, lavender and hypo.
After an hour and a half of drawing graphs and and doing FOIL and driving myself crazy trying to make sure I made no mistakes I finally came up with the all the possible genetic combinations. I was actually quite pleased and figured the next time I have some time to kill I can see what the possible outcome would be for another pair of triple het babies would be.
This morning I went to take care of all the 05's and I found Myth - the female het diffused, lavender, hypo dead! I never had any problems with her and was rather shocked. I know it happens but I feel I jinxed myself - counting my eggs long before they hatched. I will definitely put a hold on figuring out any future breeding outcomes except for the ones being bred this year.

Sincere condolences
I've lost four since returning to the hobby, and although I understand that some don't make it, it's still tough to deal with. Chin up! :wavey:

That is a bummer :(. It is awful to lose one, and even worse when you already had plans for it.
Sorry for your loss.

It does suck, but thats life. Now I am going to have to find girlfried(s) for my triple het male. I do have a lavender, opal and diffused females - but had other males picked out for them in 08.
I don't know how easy it would be to find another triple het female, but I could settle for a hypo lavender and a hypo bloodred to replace her - 08 is going to be a very busy year for me - I have too many projects planned!
Thanks,

So sorry you lost one...I know what you mean about Murphy. I'm paranoid to the point of not posting in the thread about 'your most anticipated cross for next year' but I've posted my plans in other threads so he may still get me.

I have been reduced to "hypothetical genetics" right now. I make up pretend snakes and see what they will produce. I get lots of practice figuring out the genetics and since I don't have those "hypothetical" snakes, I shouldn't jynx myself!
I will let my snakes suprise me this years with babies - I have an idea of what I will be getting (and am hoping to prove some of them het for something).
