Musk or urates?

I was holding my tiny little male anery on Monday night, he'd last eaten on Friday night. After about 10 minutes of crawling through my fingers as usual, some yellow, oily liquid oozed out of him. This is the first time I've seen this in either of my snakes. I smelled it (I know, gross!) to try to determine if it was musk or urates and it did not smell good, but it wasn't as foul as what I was expecting musk to be. Did I get musked on or do you think it was his time to go after being fed? Also, is musking a strictly male thing or do females do it as well?
 
Musking isn't gender specific. By the sounds of it, I think it was urates your snake left on you.
 
Sounds like you got urated on! Musk, from a corn, usually isn't visible. Usually you smell it. I don't think it smells very bad, although it's strong and unmistakeable. It would most likely happen within the first minute or so after you picked the baby up, especially if you had to chase him at all.
 
I caught wild corns when I was a kid. I liked the smell of the musk, I thought it smelled spicy like cloves. My sister said it was stinky, but I'm the one with a pet snake now.
 
My king snake used to musk on me all the time. It was like her favorite thing to do, lol. Her's smelled really earthy.. Like I grabbed a big handful of moist, forest soil and took a whiff of it. It still grossed me out, based on the fact that I knew it was bodily secretions, lol, but the smell wasn't so bad. A KILLER to try to wash off though, haha. I ended up having to just wash once, knowing I'd gotten rid of the slime, then just get used to the lingering smell.
