I just found out Bear Grylls has had an accident and is in 'agony' tee hee hee hee! Serves the reptile hater right! I'm sick him 'killing' and eating reptiles on TV. I know its supposedly fake but this guy p*sses me off. Boycott his show!

Rant over

I don't watch the show, but as far as I understand it he ate a snake? I'm not mad at him for that. In fact I'm pretty envious of his knowledge and his exciting life!
I hope he recovers 100%.

Other than that, no worms from me..

I don't like Bear Grylls and his fake show, but I also would never find joy in somebody else's agony.

As for eating snake, big whoop, get over it. I eat cow and India Indians don't.

I wasn't sure who you were speaking of until I looked him up. I've seen his show, and although I feel it is very fake at times, I feel he does give some very good information on giving information to people on how to survive in the wild.
As far as him getting hurt I'm very sorry to hear that as I hate to hear of anyone or any thing suffering. To laugh at that or make a joke of it is IMO just as inhumane as laughing at a snake being mistreated for ones own fun.

I ate rattler once. It was pretty good. Tastes like tangy chicken... I love that gamey flavor :)

While I certainly hope he isn't really hurt, I can't STAND his show. Really... some of the information he gives you is just plain nonsensical. Fake stuff from a fake show... and a whole lot of "dramatization" to boot. LOL.

Haven't watched Survivorman though...

And I ate rattler once too... they put the meat in some really hot chili!

On one of those shows, either Man vs Wild or Survivorman, the guy was in AZ and he was freaking out about javelina. He was SO scared and saying how they are very aggressive and have huge tusks. Its too bad they are blind as bats, only about 35 lbs and are uber scared of humans. It just made me wonder how much other crap they make up to have a more dramatic show.

I still want to see the Survivorman episode from this season when he actually gets lost. Apparently the crew goes back to pick him up and hes not there...he makes it an extra 4 days while they search for him. Anybody know when its on again?

I saw the show in which bear ate a rattler, and used the skin as a water pouch (actually he claimed he stored his own urine in it). But to find enjoyment out of someone getting injured is just plain sick.

airenlow - i missed that episode also, but have you tried looking at the surviorman website? maybe they replay them there

It was actually a pretty serious injury. Including bone protruding from his skin...etc.

Survivorman is so much better then Man vs. Wild, but it's all just entertainment. MvW isn't really meant to be educational.

LOL... how about the one where he "dramatically" killed an alligator saying it could viciously kill him... being all of maybe 4 feet long.

RIGHT....

I do hope he's okay, though.

Survivorman does his own taping while he is truly alone. He does scout the area prior to the episode being taped and does have a support crew nearby in case of life threatening emergency, but for the most part his show is about as close to real as you can get for the topic. FYI, he had a minor emergency and was out of contact for several hours with his support crew on an episode in the ocean once as well as the more recent forest "adventure"!

I like watching Survivorman, can't stand the VERY obvious fake/staged events in man vs. wild.

PS. I rather enjoyed the alligator I tried once upon a time. Kinda like porky-chicken.

I'm sure I would too! I really loved the sea-turtle stew I ate in Costa Rica. The only thing that kept me going back for more was that it was WAAAYYYYY spicy!!!

The thing I was against was Bear acting like a 4 foot alligator was looking to kill HIM. Yeah, right. Then after he killed it, you could see how really small it was in his arms.

Now on Man vs Wild they tell you when they have blatantly faked something. The other day he was messing with a cobra and there was a disclaimer in the corner that said something like "cobra was brought in from local village for this segment". Bear still wore a pee soaked shirt around his head so I'll give him a little (very little) credit for that.

Wait a minute!! Are you guys telling me there's a show on television that's not REAL?? You mean to tell me you don't believe he's eating all that wonderful "land food" and drinking all that good urine while his camera man's enjoying a Super-sized Value Meal!! Come on... :grin01:

When I was in college, the Biology Club & Geology Club would go out west every spring to herp and fossil-hunt. Once, in the Big Bend On The Rio Grande...I had the time of my life chasing javelinas. Just to be chasing javelinas through the desert brush. They seemed to be the ones freaking out.
Well...maybe I looked a little freaky, too.

I know what you're saying... but he portrays himself and his show as if you could learn something from it and actually survive doing what he does. I actually think that some of what he does would be detrimental to one's survival. LOL.

Bwana, I want the snake in your avatar. (Not to eat or use its' skin to carry urine or water.)
Cool snake & avatar. :)
