I have a stupid corn snake that runs away and hides each time i turn on a light, enter the room or make any movement.

I cant change the water because it bites everytime. Its ing stupid. Cant be handled.

How are the temps and humidity in the tank? How is his feeding schedule? How often do you attempt to handle him? Do you feed him in his tank or in a seperate holding tank? How many hides do you have in the tank?

What did you expect? This little darling has managed to bite me 15 times in under a minute, and I wouldn't change him for the world.
Given time and patience your corn will become less scared of you, and given time and patience you'll learn that it's not stupid at all.

Mr. Munson pretty much said it all.

You are a giant to this snake. You have to move slowly and it will gradually understand that you are not going to harm it. If it tries to bite, put on a glove or something but still hold it. Then your snake will know that the biting doesn't work and it may realize you are not here to harm it.

Want me to take you 'ing corn snake' off your hands?!! lol

My little darling Syko would try to attack me everytime I walked by his cage. He would strike against the side of his cage constantly. I used gloves when handling him, because I'm a wuss.

He's dog-tame now. Sweet as pie.

^^^ This from a guy with a snake named "Chompy" LOL

eh? I meant he is actually cute in the photo lol!.

And yeah, chompy does live up to his name... Any fingers get a feeding response when you hold him for longer than 5minutes.

Haha i keep trying to get them, but its a bit hard to shoot with my camera one-handed and every photo my girlfriend takes looks like its in an earthquake. Tell you what, when hes done digesting ill get him out and take one for a the team - lol!

I'm sorry, but everytime I see your sig, I just have to smile. "Chompy"....what a great name!!
Kinda reminds me of Bart Simpson's pet elephant..... :)

I would'nt say the ing snake was stupid, just misunderstood, try putting yourself in the snakes shoes, he's frightened. As Dave said, if he bites alot try wearing gloves to handle him, and dont put him back until he has calmed down, and stopped biting. Just give him time and have a bit of ing patients

hey! You remind me of a classmate I had a while back.

Whenever he was frustrated with the computer, he'd throw his hands up in the air and say "STUPID COMPUTER", he'd insist the computer was stupid and rant a little.

All the computers in the lab were the same.

After a while, you'd think he'd figure out it wasn't the computer that was stupid.

Try and understand your world a little better instead of blaming things for being stupid.

Don't handle the snake at all. Wait until it's about 6 months old. It will still bite you but its nothing to write home about. And you might avoid stress re-gurge , which seems to dominate this site at the moment

There are a few choice words I'd use to describe this guy, however, Mr. Munson won't be pleased if I utter them :grin01:

He's a baby, you're a giant. Snakes aren't domesticated creatures and aren't the most intelligent either (but they're not stupid), they act on instinct and impulse, but with time they will learn that you aren't a threat. Nearly all Corn snakes will grow up to be calm and docile, when I first got Salazar he was flighty and scared, now he's 8 months old, growing like mad, and is great to handle.
