My Corns...Pic heavy

I haven't been here in a while, but I've been a proud owner of corns for more than a year now!!! My first Corn[Swiper] is now 16 months old! Well, at least I've had him for that long, I know he's a month or two older than that!! When I first brought him home he was just a tiny baby!! He's a spring '06 Reverse Okeetee......WELL, after 16 months and lots of mice, he's now a whoppin 40 inches!!!:crazy02: My mom used to think he was cute, but after measuring him last night, she ran away screaming! I chuckled to myself.....because now I know all I have to do to get her to leave me alone, is whip out SWIPER!!:grin01: Course I'd probaby get grounded later, hehe. ANYWAYS, My second corns' name is Boots...and for those of you who are wondering, YES, the names are from Dora the Explorer! Mom said I couldn't have them unless I named them after it, so alas, I have Swiper and boots! I got Boots in March of this year, and he was bigger than swiper was, at a good 17 inches. He was an early '07 hatchling so I was told. The last time I measured him he was 2 feet exactly, but he's probably another inch or two longer now. Ok, so I thought he was small compared to Swiper, but then guess what I did today? I was picking up snake food, and well, IT HAPPENED! I ended up with yet another corn, but this is a BABY baby.....he's somewhere between 1-3 weeks, a late '07 hatchling! He's the smallest corn I've ever acquired, and a tiny 12 inches.......just a mere 1 foot!! HAHA!! I looked at him next to Swiper and boots, and my sister and I laughed so hard, because we both said he looked like a worm next to them!!! BY THE WAY.......his name is DIEGO!!

But just so you know, I am NOT a goot photographer, so don't expect anything too glamorous!! But without further interruptions, here they are!!

This isn't a very good one.....it's just Swiper lounging!!

Brittany006-1.jpg

He's a pretty(big) boy.....:)

I thought Boots was small.....HA! Wait till you see Diego!! But swiper looks like he's ready to eat Boots, though the boys live in harmony!

Brittany022.jpg

Swiper was so interested in Diego for some reason!

Brittany035.jpg

Awe, Diego wants to go in there too!!((But I wouldn't dare, He might get squishied!))

Brittany036.jpg

Poor Poor baby Diego :'(

Wow, lovely snakes. I like your monster, lol. Is he sharing the room with that other blood? Awesome set-up you can tell your snake really likes it!

When I got Boots(my second) I introduced him to Swiper and they got along great so the two of them have been sharing the same tank in harmony for the past 9 months. As for Diego, I wouldn't dare put him in there, not yet anyways! He's in his own, MUCH smaller tank away from everything right now, I don't want to stress him out in any way! He's so young and tiny! I definately can't wait for him to grow up.......but then again, I'm starting to feel like Diego is a 'Shiego' heh....I was in a rush when I picked him/her up, plus that pet store doesn't offer it.....BUT, I will be going to the pet store I got Boots and Swiper probed at, and we'll find out what Diego is THEN.

And by the way, I still don't exactly know what Diego is, color wise......And Boots, I was told he was a Normal, but I don't know......anyone have any guesses?

MORE PICS!!

Brittany053.jpg

Swiper and Boots get along great together, and despite their size differences, they sometimes coil up together!! <33

Brittany043.jpg

I'm getting a little better with picture taking! This is Diego, atop a box of coins to show size a little better. Anyone know what he/she is??

Brittany044.jpg

Here's boots in the same box of coins....I was told he was a Normal, anyone think differently?

Brittany047.jpg

Diego and Boots together.....HA, Diego is so ity BITY!!

Brittany050.jpg

Swiper and boots in the box! Wow, Swiper sure did GROOOOW!!

Brittany052.jpg

Its a Swiper and a Boots......lightly dusted with an ity bity DIEGO!!

That sounded almost sarcastic and I didn't mean it that way, I meant they were really nice snakes and can't say more about their looks. just didn't want any misconceptions there.... good luck!

Its all good! I do love my babies!!! I just wish I could grasp on the genetics part haha! I really want to know what Diego is, and Im not sure what Boots is either.......:shrugs:

Gorgeous snakes and I am sure if you have been here for a while you are familiar with all the issues with co-habbings snakes. Your snakes don't coil up next to each-other because they like each other the coil next to each other because that location is the best location for a snake to be at that point. if you don't believe me do a search for cohabitation on here...Or you could always google corns snake cannibalization.

Woa, thats.....creepy! Hmm, They've done that like, once or twice, but there are severalal places for them to go, and they're more than often in their own spot doing......whatever they do! I feed them seperately outside their tank and always wait a little while before putting them back in the tank together. I haven't ever had any problems with the two of them, but I guess it wouldn't hurt to do some more research

They're all gorgeous! Diego and Botts are both normal, and your swiper is an amel. I love swipers colors.

I have to say, that for co-habing 2 corns, you have done it in the best possible way, though I'm not saying it's a good idea. You've kept two snakes of equal size, they are still relatively young, and you have given them plenty of room and many hides. The problems of co-habing have already been mentioned...;)

I didn't mean to jump on you at all its just an issue that has been hit here time and again. To sum up a lot of the issues you have with cohabbing are as follows.
-Cannibalism (although not common it does happen..I tried to find one of the pics of it they are pretty disturbing but I couldn't find anything.)
-Increased risk of transmission of mites and other health conditions.
-Increased stress to snake.

All three are wonderful! Swiper has superb colors, Diego has a cool interlaced patter and boots is just flat out cool!

Thanks for showing us!

Wow, I never thought things like that could happen......though I guess ANYTHING can happen at any given time. The two of them have been doing great together for the past 9 months, and I've never seen any signs of agression between the two. Neither of them are picky eaters either! I do NOT feed them together under any circumstances because I know the possible risks, and I don't feed them IN their cage either, I feed them outside the tank in plastic tupperware containers, and over time they've gotten used to the routine! When they see me holding the containers they KNOW whats coming and get all excited! The other thing is that neither of them have ever bitten ANYONE.....not even eachother, but then again they're not FULLY grown....yet. I will most likely sepreate the two when boots is about a year old((In march)).

Thank-you SO much for all the info! I will DEFFINATELY take all of this into consideration....the thing is though that I'm 17 and my mom doesn't want another big tank in the house ect ect.....who knows why, she's just wierd! I'll be 18 in march though, so things will be....a LITTLE different!! :)

Boots is a big boy for an '06!

Diego does not look like a normal to me.... somehow he looks different I think. Maybe hypo? We need a picture with more light :)
