Awww man this makes me miss my ferrets. I had a white one named GiGi and then one like your lil fella named Tubby aka Tubz. GiGi was deaf and I think she had a brain bleed bc she died. When I found her she was still warm and Tubz was cuddled with her. She had blood coming out of her mouth and nose :( Tubz went into a grief mode and wouldn't play or eat. So I went and got another, named Domino. They were best friends. Then our snake population doubled and I rehomed them to a friend. They are living happily ever after. :) I sure do miss my GiGi though. She was my baby. Your's is a cutie!

I see you have the magic ferret crack, aka nutrical! :D They are such fascinating little beasties.

Very cute. My fiance wants one (or two) so badly. One day maybe when we have our own place. Thanks for sharing, yours is adorable!

Very cute!:)
I used to have some ferrets and do miss them.
They had free roam of the house, were litter box trained, and were a lot of fun. Great memories and some great stories.

CUTE!! I wish I wasn't so allergic to them! I would have one in a heart beat! But I'm always afraid for/of the snakes with them. If it's not the ferret eating a snake, it'd be the snake eating the ferret!

I'm not allergic, and this thread has renewed some interest for me. I'm not worried about snakes as much as the cat that killed a chipmunk and a baby rabbit...

haha, my cats kill things all the time, but I always thought that ferrets were pretty big reptile eaters. We have two of them in my classroom and I can hardly walk by their cage without my eyes starting to water. They're just a tad too messy/smelly for me.

No I don't feed raw yet but I may in the future. If I do I'll probably do freeze dried raw some thing like Wysong

I would recommend introducing raw & whole prey now, while your ferret is young. Once they imprint on a food, (kibble) it can be hard to get them to accept raw/whole prey. Start by giving your baby a f/t mouse (an adult is fine, but you can offer something smaller, if you want, like a hopper). Mine love mice & chicks!
*Edit to add: ferrets cannot process veggies, so avoid kibble that has a high amount. Find a high protein, high fat, low carb food. I don't feed anything with grains or corn.
(Whole prey is really good for them, it also helps prevent blockages.)

Also, I would recommend that you get you ferret used to eating a ferret soup, in the event that it gets sick, & cannot eat foods it has to chew.
A really good ferret forum is http://holisticferret60.proboards.com/index.cgi (there are good soup recipes on this website)

Cats & ferrets can get along quite easily. Ferrets are not rodents, they are carnivores. When I had cats (including two Bengal cats) they would play with the ferrets.

Ferrets can be vey expensive. Find a good ferret vet. Make sure it's one that sees ferrets on a regular basis.
