my first 2 corn snakes: a sunkissed and a lavender

I just posted in the intro section and as promised am including pictures of my little guys. They are not going to be little for long, they've grown 4" each over the last 6 weeks. They were being fed live mice at the shop where they both had resided for about 7 months. I had no problem switching them to thawed frozen.

I picked a sunkissed because I love the classic Okeetee pattern and the hypo B gene really brings out the brilliance of the reds and oranges. However, purple is my favorite color which is why I also purchased a lavender. Can somebody tell me if my lavender would also be considered a motley. His pattern looks a lot like what appears to me to by a motley pattern, but he wasn't labeled as a motley when I bought him. It sure looks like his dark saddles are elongated and he definitely has closed light-colored spots and a horizontal stripe on the upper part of his body.

very very pretty snakes! Welcome to the site as well! the lavender is not motley. in order for it to be motley, it would have to have closed circles throughout the entire body. Notice how at the middle to end of the snake it turns into regular patterns. But you have some beautiful snakes, congrats on the pickup!!!

Oh, and I forgot to mention the sunkissed is named Rube, short for Ruby, same as in Rube Goldberg, and a traditional carny call to arms. The lavender is Ami, short for Amethyst and the French word for "friend".

Not entirely true. I've seen true motleys with only a portion of the circles. A true motley has a plain white belly.

But they do look very pretty!
(Side note, you're not housing them together, are you?)

Side answer: Yes, and they are doing just fine. I know a lot of people here don't do that and have read all the spiels. My guys are doing fine. They are both males, were both quarantined for over 6 months, share a 30 gallon vivarium, and are fed separately. Before coming to this forum, I was told it was acceptable if you used the proper precautions. That is all I have to say on the matter and don't need a lecture. Thanks.

Then I won't lecture. I'll just say it's a bad idea, and leave it at that.

But they really are very pretty snakes!

im also not gonna lecture but will agree with the bad idea. The people on this forum dont attack when "lecturing", we all just want whats best for the animals. but again, beautiful snakes and hopefully they will be fine together!

Dont know, but the sunkissed looks very classic coloured to me.

No special headpattern, and the body pattern is classic too.

Congratulations on your first two cornsnakes! I bet it was difficult for you to settle on what morphs to get but you've chosen a couple of very pretty ones. Thanks so much for sharing pictures of your new friends. :wavey:
