My first Corn

This is my first snake, Ezekial, aka Zeke. I think, from pictures, he's normal, and I really have no idea whether he's male or female. I've kind of fallen in love with him. Since I got him, he's eaten fine, and shed once. He had his first "swim" in my tub and LOVED it, and really likes to be handled. I joined the forum to learn more about him, and corns in general, and to make sure I'm taking proper care of him. Thought I'd post some pics and see what y'all think.

He was a rescue, when I got him he had been housed in sand with a heat rock, had a burn on his belly, and sand compacted in his scales, he shed just days after I got him and it was in pieces. He loves his new viv and seems to be pretty happy with me.

Thats horrible! Poor guy... Nice to know that there are plenty of nice people out there... I'm sure he's much happier with you! By the looks of the tail, I think it's female, but there is no way to be sure without a probe! I would get him or her probed at a reptile show ;)

There's a reptile show in Taylor Michigan I was planning on going to Saturday. Can I take him with me to have him probed? Who do I ask? How much does it cost?

I'm not sure that anybody will have a probe set, but they could look and give an educated guess for free. Ask any of the corn vendors if they would mind checking.

There are people that have probe sets with them . Some charge $5 but get to talking to most of the breeders and they will do it for free. Be careful about bringing your snake to the show though... I picked up mites the last time I went.

Took him to the reptile show, and ... he's a BOY!!!! yeah!!! I was disappointed with the show though ....

Carol, That was the worst one I have been to. They usually are really good. alot of vendors were missing from the show. it usually is packed. There is also shows held in lapeer. not sure of dates but it is every other month shows.

Thanks, I didn't really know what to think, and I was very disappointed. Now that I know that isn't a good representation of a show, we'll have to check out one of the other shows.

I love this forum!

I agree that the Taylor show is not as good as it was. I absolutely hate the new location. The Grand Rapids and Kalamazoo are decent but are quite smaller. I've never been to the Lapeer show. I don't believe there have been any Lansing shows these last couple of years, but the last one I attended was TINY.
