My New Little Man

Everyone meet Jake the Snake. Been waiting awhile for him and I finally got him from 'Kenster' sometime last week. He's really shy compared to his girlfriend Sunny and he doesn't like photos taken of him at all. When he's in his viv he scatters as soon as the camera goes off and he started to go crazy when I snapped the one photo of him in my hand. He's also been a shy feeder so far and likes to be left alone with the lights out. I guess I got pretty lucky with Sunny. She's going after her food before I can get the lid closed on her feeding tub. I'm hoping it's just the stress of a new environment and that he'll warm up to me pretty soon. I would like to think his 15-20 minute car ride from Ken's to his new 15g mansion wasn't that stressful. Anyways, I think he's a little stud and I'm proud of him...

It appears as if Jake's a climber. I went to go get him out and noticed him here after I got half of the clips off. I'm kind of worried about him getting down. I know they're good climbers but with his size in that tank theres only two ways up there (from his mountain and his tree stump) and I'm afraid he won't find them to get back down. I don't want him to take a spill, so I'm going to stay up with him for a little bit and make sure he gets down safely. If not I'm going in for him, lol... Am I worrying for no reason? :shrugs:

Getting up on that "ledge" is common with snakes.
The snakes, that I have in tanks, do that, all the time, as well. They always manage to, safely, find their way back down.:) They do have a few items, that they can use prior to getting to the substrate floor, and have no trouble finding/using them.
Just make sure that there are, absolutely, no open gaps (even little ones) in the screen top. Hinged screen tops, even with clips, would/could be more succeptible to having any.
