My newest addition, Veruca...

Lolo

Surrounded by snakes
I attended the Reptile Super Show in San Diego last weekend, and while I saw lots of cute corns, I came home with another python... a 2008 female Stimson's Python (Antaresia Stimsoni), to mate with my male in 1-2 years. She was "pick of the clutch" from that year, and was priced considerably higher than the others - but I negotiated a good deal, and couldn't be happier with this pretty girl. Meet Veruca! :)

Wow! She's gorgeous! How big will she get?

Thanks! Stimsoni are considered a dwarf python, and usually top out around 4ft... my adult male is about that length, but he's kind of a chunky monkey. Here's James, who is full grown and much less "flashy" in his coloring (compared to Veruca):

Thank you both! I do love her eyes, and hope they stay like that... I also haven't seen another Stimson's with that purple-ish coloring, so it'll be interesting to see what she produces. :)

Their heat pits are formidable. They look like their growling. Are they as sweet as the ball pythons? I don't know much about python personalities.

Haha... I'd rather say it looks like they're smiling, not growling. ;)

Their personality is somewhat different than a Ball, but just as gentle and easy to handle. James' former owner called him a "wet noodle," which is a good description for his temperament - very mellow, and loves to drape himself in my hair or around my arms. So far Veruca is a bit more jumpy, but calms down once in my hands... she's still young and getting used to my home, so I think she'll eventually be as cool as James. :)

P.S. I may be getting a 1.1 pair of Spotted Pythons next week, from the same (local) guy who gave me James... they are quite similar to Stimsons, and should be a nice addition to my collection!
