My only clutch of this year: pied ball pythons

Blue Apple Herps

aka Matthew, PhD
This was an unexpected clutch. I moved in the middle of breeding season. The parents had only locked once.

After I moved none of my bps locked again. I assumed that it was a lost season for me. Then one day cleaning cages I had a clutch of 7 eggs! Unfortunately 4 of the 7 went bad. But I got 2 pieds, so I can't complain.

Both pieds are female, so not sure which one I'll keep.

Sorry for crappy cell phone pic. Didn't feel like getting out the DSLR yet.

Awesome! I'm trying for a pied / het pied ball python clutch myself this season and am pretty sure my girl is gravid. Congratulations!

Thanks everyone! And good luck Wendy with hatching some pieds. Nothing more exciting than cutting the eggs and seeing nothing but white!!

Gorgeous pied! I'm glad you got some balls this year. No baby corns this year?

Nope no corns. I could post a novel, but I'm getting close to being done breeding corns. The market is just so bad right now, that for me its not worth even producing them anymore. I'm not looking to make money, but time is money, and the time it takes to get a 20 snake clutch going and then you have to advertise them forever to sell even one gets tiring and frustrating.

So I decided to take this year off from breeding corns and reflect on what I want to do going forward with them. I'll definitely be keeping a bunch of them, as they're my favorite snakes and that'll never change. But breeding them, we'll see.

They are so gorgeous, and surprise eggs, with BPs??? It always enrages me when people get surprise eggs, because I sit around waiting for 6 months, going through all the motions, lol!

But congrats, they are really beautiful!

Thanks! It was a surprise bc they only locked once or twice then I moved and they never locked again. So I wasn't expecting any. So I wasn't really looking for any signs of her being gravid so missed them all. The female is huge so she doesn't really look super big when shes gravid.
