My second pet addiction

So obviously my love of reptiles has played a huge part in my life over the last 3 or 4 years, but this past year I've been sucked into the a new obsession... betta fish

At the moment I only have 2 bettas and 1 african dwarf frog. I actually had a very beautiful crowntail betta pass on my last weak after having him for only a few days. He had a bloat and swim bladder problem that suddenly developed into a fatal condition ):

At the moment my red veiltail is at my mom's house because I have NO SPACE lol. I should really stop getting into pets that require huge glass tanks and expensive cages!

But most of all I am so super excited by my newest fishy addition! He's a SUPER ADORABLE doubletail halfmoon betta. He's still pretty tiny and young but I'm so excited to see how he turns out as he gets older. I think he might end up being marble, but who knows. He's got black spots all over, with some small red blotches on his head and back. I'm curious to see if he keeps the see-through cellophane fins or if those color in as he gets bigger.

So here's YinYang!

Awww he was such a pretty fish! I'm sorry ): It's a bummer they don't live nearly as long as snakes.

I also really like giant Koi (if I had a pond I would totally have a ton!) but bettas are one of the only other fish I really enjoy. They totally do have little personalities and they are really smart fish! I use to keep platies, guppies, and at one time long ago I had some feeder goldfish but to me those fish are more for display because they don't really interact and bond with you the same way that bettas do.

I'm constantly having to stop myself from buying more tanks and bettas D: There's a 5 gal setup on sale at PetSmart right now and it's taunting me.

I love bettas! They are my favorite fish. I used to have about 7-8 at one time and it was neat to see the different colors, etc. I would love to have them again but I don't have room and would need to get tanks big enough to keep the @#$% cats out of it...I have seen some seriously cool bettas while looking around...I've almost had some imported that were freaking phenomenal but that was a long time ago...I love your little YinYang! Where did you pick him up? Can't wait to see him develop :)

Thanks! I got YinYang at PetSmart actually :) I stopped in at around 8pm and they were just shelving a brand new shipment of bettas, so I got first pick.

They are such nice little companions and totally addictive. Speaking off....

I just could not help myself when this little fish came up on craigslist! The owner had several spawns growing out but this one got too big too fast and needed a new home ASAP. It just so happens I was at PetSmart again today and notices they had 5.5 gallon kits on sale for $20... so not welcome new baby fishy!

She's a female, you can tell because she's so light colored you can see the ovaries right through her body! She's only about an inch and a half long and 2-2.5 months old, but she's very sprightly and healthy!

So I guess a need another name, lol!
