Can someone tell me how to get my snake used to me? Ive had him almost a week and when i hold him all he wants to do is get away. He used to be calm when i held him until recently.:sobstory:
Yah if he's a baby then he see's you as hunter to his prey. Give him a little time to settle into his enclosure and gain a little security in his surroundings.
When you do start handling your baby again, you also want to be sure the room is relatively peaceful and your hands don't smell like a predator (dog, cat, king snake, etc.) or prey (mice, chicken soup). Let the little guy settle in, then enjoy him in small doses until he gets used to his new home. Have fun.
I've read that Corns are very much like Garters in the sense that she like to roam, and are active while being handled. They will go in one direction and "dart" for it. And if they snak is going in a direction you don't want it to, ie up your arm, just take your finger and gentle push it into the direction you'd prefer.
