My Snake Room

RobbiesCornField

Bring it on.
Not as pretty as the tubs/vivs, but there was a discussion in a thread earlier about how someone had no room to get another tank. I would like you to keep in mind that this is an 11x11 bedroom, and is currently home to 31 snakes, a laptop computer, desktop computer, computer desk, 2 dressers, table, extra snake supplies, and a small closet. (The ball pythons on top of the large tank in the tub with no decorations are in that tub for breeding purposes. They have their own place in the rack.)

Thanks for peeking!

Wow, Robbie, you really know how to maximize space! Now what are you using for heat? Flex-watt or cable or what? I'd love to get mine out of glass vivs and all into tubs in one room.

Wow, thank you so much for the pictures RobbiesCornField, those pictures are really great! The racking thing you have beside your laptop, how exactly does that work?

The rack has flexwatt in it. The room has a ceramic room heater that keeps it right at 80-85 degrees in here (you can see it right next to my laptop in the 3rd picture). And as far as space, I've got room for more. :D lol. At least, I hope so! I can fit at least another 2 racks in here while still being able to open the dresser and rack drawers! That big table and the giant tank are going to be leaving as soon as I can get my big tank/rack built. There's going to be 4x2 tanks for the boas, and one a bit bigger for my burm.

The rack is 32qt tubs with FlexWatt on the back end. The small white pegs keep the tubs in place so the snake can't push out. The top 3 tubs didn't come with the rack, but are the under the bed tubs you can get at office depot for about $20. They're pretty much the perfect size for an adult corn or rat snake.

Very cool reptile room Robbie! What is that black drawer looking thing to the right of the computer? Is that another rack? Or just a set of drawers? If so, very neat rack :)

WHOOPS! My bad... you said right... that's another set of drawers. I wish that was a rack.

Hey, still pretty neat for a set of drawers! Is your blanket-box rack 8 high, or is it just 4 high stacked? I'm been looking for a larger rack unit, but they all seem to come in pieces. The only one I can find that I like is via animal plastics, but... lets just say we had issues before, so I'm not going to temp fate again.

It's 4 high stacked. I got both of them from Reptile Basics for about as much as I would pay for a 4 high rack from AP (shipping, heating, and tubs are included at RB). Plus, these racks were made to stack! They come with small pins that go into the top of one rack, and they fit into a hole on the bottom of the other rack so they don't move/slide! Plus, there's a cool little shelf you can get separately that slides into the space made by the 2 racks that can be like a little work station. (I didn't get that shelf... yet)

Awesome! Thanks for the ideas :)
