My snake wont eat

HI there,

I think my snake just started to shed (anyway, our color is fading and she has smokey\blue eyes). I'm just got her two weeks ago. So I'm fairly new at this. She is about 3 1\2 years. (got her form another owner). She was suppose to eat this saturday, but didn't. I tryed again on sunday and she didn't care for the mouse.

So I was wondering if I should keep trying feeding her or...??? I don't wan to waste all of my mice.

Also, how long can I keep a defrosted mouse in the frige and can I refreeze it is my snake don't want it?

Thank you,

Wait a week, then try. Let her shed in peace. A lot of snakes wont eat when they're going to shed. Also, never offer food every day, it could condition them to refuse, if in the future she misses a feed, wait a week and then offer again. Adults don't need to eat very often, so you don't need to worry for a loooong time.

Also, if you only have one snake, throw away the refused defrosted mouse. They can keep in the fridge for a day or so, but its generally safer to just let them go. Or you can get more snakes so you always have someone to feed. :p

Actually I have 3 female. But the other did eat there mice. Maybe I should try and feed them not on the same day. That way I wont loose any mouse. Thank you for your help

It's been 4 weeks now and she still don't want to eat. First week ahe was blue. Second week she shed, tird week not interested. This week still not interested.

She seems to want out of her terra. Do you think she miss her ols owner? I don'T know what to do whit her... Please help!

Could she have mated before you got her? Going off her food could mean that she is about to lay eggs. They also shed before they lay.

Possible. I Know the previous owner did breed the snakes. I have 3 female (from what she told me). Hope she didn't give me the male.... One of them did lay eggs just before I got her but not the one that doesn't eat. I think I'm going to call the previous owner to see. Thank you,

Definitely call the previous owner. Also, just to make sure, provide her with a lay box. Someone who breeds here could give you good ideas on that.

I agree this sounds like either a female ready to lay (even if she did not breed she may lay anyway) or a male on the prowl.

I there,
Thanks a lot for your advice. I unortunaly didn't have time to put a lay box. When I got back home, she had already started to lay her eggs. She deliered 14 of them. Norm at Dino Reptile is helping me now. He took them to his place to put them in his incubator. He is a professional breeder so, I'm sure they will be fine. All of them are fertile and doing fine. So hopefully, I'll have 14 babys in a few months. I'm so exited... and can't wait to see what they will look like as I have no clue what the male looked like. I was unable to get a hold of the previous owner but still waiting for an e-mail reply.

What a small world...Norm is the breeder I bought my corn snake from! Glad to hear he's helping you out.

I'm excited for you. Are you going to keep any of the babies?

Sorry there, my internet is out at home so...
Yeah! he's really kind for helping me out. Look like they're all ok and will all hatch. I'm very excited about it. I will not keep all of them.... but probably 1 or 2. Depending of what they look like. I really hope they're a bit different from the one I have, so hoping they look like their fater. Witch I have no clue what he look like. I was unable to reach the previous owner. So far she doesn't reply to any of my e-mail since I told her about that little story.
