My snake

Hey all, I picked up my snake today finally!! It's a Ghost corn, and it looks beautiful! I should have pictures Sunday afternoon or maybe Monday morning.

I actually had mixed feelings at first, I ordered a Ghost corn and the pet store guy ordered an Albino Milksnake. I got to see the milksnake first and it looked really awsome, but then I saw my corn and I loved it even more. I dont know what it is, but I just love the Ghost corns colors. Cant wait till it grows up! It's actually only about 2-3 months old and about 10inches(could be wrong) long. Like I said I'll post pics ASAP.

Alright everyone, if you have any questions or comment please post. Talk to you all soon! Thanks for all the great help, by the way, to whoever helped me out!!

Welcome to the addiction you two ( anthonycyrus & felix the snake). Bet that doesn't stay at just one.
To both of you I wouldn't mess with your new little babies for a week, don't handle nor feed, nor go near them. Just put fresh water in and leave alone for a week, to let it get used to its new home.
Then enjoy.

Thanks for the extra tip fatso. I made sure I read that Corn snake manual and read up on any extra info on this board, so I was well aware of what needed to be done in order to keep the snake healthy.

My tank looks empty though. I mean its a 20 gallon and its got a water bowl, a couple of hiding spots(2 on the warm side, 1 on the cool side), I think I need something else though. My 2 hiding spots on the warm side consist of a rock with a space so that it can hide underneath it, and a little toilet paper roll. My hiding spot on the cool side is a large paper towl roll. Anyone want to help me out with some new hiding spots cause I dont really like the paper rolls as hiding spots, I want something cooler. Well, any suggestions are welcome and like I said I should have pictures up either tomorrow or maybe Monday morning.

My local pet store has all these little thingies for the snake. Like fake skulls (Lame :D ) or other such decorations with holes in them just for snakes. Also things like hollow branches (Parasite free!) or pieces of bark are for sale.
I have a few of those. I also take simple small boxes and punch one or 2 holes in them. They like those a bit better then the toilet rolls. It all takes a bit of creativety :)

I saw some really cool ones at my petstore for fish that has plants in them and it looks like a cave with several holes in it. I'm tempted to get one for Maya since she killed off her live plant when she uprooted it :) The bottom is hollow so that you can get your snake out if you want.

I bought terriacotta pots and broke them in half and use those as hides. I had some plastic vines I use for some green.

I have plants in pots that the snakes enjoy. Jade plants pretty hardy for little hatchlings to climb.

I went hiking and found hollowed out bark that creates the same effect as a toilet paper roll. I baked it at 250 for about 3 hours to kill anything that was harmful to my snake.

Most of my decorations I made or found myself. :)

:roflmao: OMG!!!!! That took a second read.....

K, I assume you are talking about for the snake and not yourself??? :toiletgra

I sawed a coconut shell in half as a hide and drilled out the eye holes for access, it is great for my baby snake but will become to small eventually, but it looks natural.

CAV....don't make me laugh so hard....LOL... :roflmao:

Leave it to you to pick up on that like that. That was just toooo funny!

Welcome to the forums, you two. Enjoy the "love of corns" but, man, are they addictive. Wait till you need another "fix", and another, and another.....

You know, I want another snake already... :D

Yeah, so last night was the first night I actually sat down in my room(in the dark, with the red heat light on) and I couldnt believe how long I was watching my snake for. I went into my room at about 7:45PM and thats when it(reason why I say it is because I dont know if its a boy or call, hence the reason it doesnt have a name yet) came out of its hiding spot. I must have watched it for 2 and a half hours, it was so cool, I really couldnt believe how long I watched it for!

My snake seems to like his cooler side better, his cool side is around 73 degrees and he stays in his hiding place on the cool side most of the day and then comes out at night to check out the surroundings and whatnot. Is that normal though? Just to hide out on the cool side? I am taking a guess that when I feed him, he'll utilize the warm side alittle more to digest? :shrugs:

As far as pictures goes, well, I'll probably just take pictures of my viv setup for now, I cant seem to get a good picture of the snake so I'll let him settle for a while then I am sure it wont mind a few snaps or two.
