My Tinley Park Pick Ups

solo1979

Lovin' me some snakes!
Had a great time but I am BEAT and will definitely sleep well tonight. Here's what I came back with.

#1 - Carpet Python Book - this book premiered at the show today and was actually one of the main reasons why I wanted to go.

#2, 3, 4 - Carpet Pythons that I've had on hold from Luke Snell for a little over a month and was super excited to finally meet in person!
2010 IJ boy - Heather he did hand him over after all! :)

#5 - 2011 Spotted Python for my boyfriend's daughter's birthday next week. She really wanted one of her own.

#6 - 2011 California King - I went back to the table to look at this guy 4 times, before splurging and spending a whole $20 on him. I really wasn't looking for a California King, but he was stunning.

#7 - Leucistic Texas Rat Snake - has been on my wishlist for a few months now but wasn't willing to pay to have one shipped.

#8 - Last but not least, a very pink 2011 Coral Ghost. Another non planned purchase but they showed a lot of pink for hatchlings and I thought he was well worth $50. The picture doesn't do him justice, this guy is HOT!

Nice pickups! Of course, I especially like the babies from Luke, of course! No wonder Luke wishes he would have kept that IJ boy, he's purdy! And daaaaaammmm! That Jag sib male is smoking! How exciting! They're all gorgeous!

I cannot wait to get one of the books!

I love the non planned pickups too. Hehe. It's about impossible to leave without extra snakes, huh? ;)

I'm really digging that Cali, I'm just envious of you being able to go to a show and get that many snakes lol, pretty sure if I tried that, I'd be single and without a place to live lol

Now I know why Luke had doubts this week. IJ boy just shed for him on Tuesday. He is so bright it is almost jungle-ish.

The only truly unplanned pick ups were the coral ghost and the kingsnake. The spotted I had preordered earlier in the week too when I found them listed on KS. I wrote down a list of things I wanted to look for and the leucy was on there. Just wasn't sure if I could get it now because the budget was tight. (Hard to believe when you see 7 snakes here huh?)

The book was cheaper than they said it would be last week. I anticipated it being $72 and it was $60. So that gave me $12 more to put towards a snake. Hehe!

Dakafall, I hear ya 100%. If you dig up old threads I had issues with my boyfriend and snakes initially too and even hid a bunch of them when he would come over. I finally put my foot down and said this is me and my hobby, it's really not your business and either you are going to get over it or not. He pouted for a day and got over it. Every now and then he will make a comment about how I better not get any more, blah, blah, blah but I remind him that it really doesn't concern him and he backs down. So he knows I came home with several snakes yesterday, just not an exact number. :)

I saw a red female IJ for $60 I was so tempted by! But I continue to resist because some of them were labeled as IJ but when you asked they were part coastal. But this one was just stunning!

You got some awesome pick ups! Good job! :)

What a haul!!! I love that Cali, too. Some of them have the most amazing patterns.

Thank you! Where was the IJ? The carpet python guys were along the back wall a few tables down from Terri. There were other cheaper carpets scattered on random tables all over the place but those all seemed to be brokers. The people I got my kingsnake from had what appeared to be IJs labeled as 75% diamond for $50. Highly unlikely and didn't even resemble diamonds.

Thanks Nanci! I kept telling myself I don't need this kingsnake, I didn't even want a kingsnake before I got my rescue earlier this week but I kept circling back to that table over and over. Other people that saw me walking around with him kept commenting on how amazing he was too.

I know exactly which table those Cali's were on. Most were very cheap. I saw a couple that were patterned like yours and I was tempted because they are so pretty and the price was right. But, I never like the look of adult Cali's. Im not sure why. I wonder if the darker ones stay that dark.

The IJ was on a breeder from Wisconsin's table. SW something. There was just a pair and the male looked like a typical IJ.

I'm not sure if he will stay dark or get that lighter stuff between the scales. Yeah this guy had a whole corner end cap of an aisle with at least 8 tables total and about 3 just had tons of kings and milks.

I don't think I saw the WI table. I was there over 5 hours and still probably didn't see everything. But towards the end I just had my hands so full that I was over it! Lol!
