My 14yr son had been hounding me for a corn snake for months. He'd studied everything he could possibly find and bugged me endlessly. He found a pair of little guys on craigs list. He and the woman that owned them emailed each other back and forth about 75 times. I have to give her credit because she took the time to really explain things to him. I know he was driving her crazy.
She'd had two little yearlings that escaped from her. Said she'd looked for them for about a month and assumed they'd gotten out of the apartment, so she had picked these little guys up. About a week after she got these, the other two showed up. So, she didn't have time to devote to four snakes. She fed them in front of us so we could see how well they ate and learn how to do it. They are about six months old and she'd had them for about four months.
Since we've had them home, I'd only been able to pick up one of them because the other one was really defensive, doing his striking pose and rattling everytime I tried to pick him up. My son hadn't held either of them because he was too nervous. I'd been reading on here, noticed the discussions about gloves and thought "why not?". He put them on, reached right in and scooped up the nippy little guy. Neither the snake or my son even so much as flinched. They played for about a half hour. At one point, Ty, the corn, even laid across my son's hand with his head resting on him and just stared at my son for about five minutes. I think they made good friends.
Anyway, I've been lurking on here for a couple of months and thought since we were official now, it was time to come out. Our new family members are Jax and Ty. They've been sexed and both are definitely males. I think I've fallen for them more than my son has so far.
Thanks for teaching me so much already.
I don't have any good pics that I've taken yet, but I do have the ones she sent my son when he was driving her crazy.
This one is Ty.
And this guy is Jax.
