My Vanishing Amel Okeetee

jjspirko

African House Snake King
I got this girl who is growing like a weed (about 4 feet) about two years ago. She was marked a reverse okeetee. Picked her up at the big breeders show in DFW from Don at South Mountain Reptiles. She was like twice as big as all her clutch mates and only had the classic big white boarders on the bottom half of her body. The top was just real thin white borders.

Now look, as you can see only tiny ammounts remain with white flecking through out the body. Her red is intense and bright. Don actually offered me three baby reverse oaks in trade for her cause he thought I might be unhappy at loosing the borders. Thanks but no thanks I really enjoy this snake. She is also really calm and gentle so I use her with kids and educational stuff.

I don't know what to call her anymore, she is not a sunglow as she has too much white but she sure is pretty. I will be interested to see if more of the white fades in time,

Mine is the same way but he's about 3 1/2 foot long and his white lines are more thick around the top of his head.

Ah, one of my reverse okeetees had the happen to her. And for some reason her sisters borders stayed the same.

Anyways, Wow thats a great gesture from Don. Never met him but sounds like a real good guy.

Yea he is a great guy and produces some amazing snakes.

In any event I am pretty happy with this gal, my niece named her Secret cause she hides in her cave all the time. I am going to keep feeding her all she wants (within reason). Don just suggested I breed her with an Ultra. So I am now looking for one old enough to court her by spring.

If anyone has say an 05 male ultra they want to sell let me know,

Jack

She's beautiful!

My hope is that she has the potential to hit 5 feet plus. I have her in a huge viv and she gets crawl time in the yard so she is not getting fat just growing and growing. If all my snakes ate like this I would need to breed my own mice.
