Hey everyone! So I've been given a fish. A large fish. Its probably 6" long. Going with what I know: its an african cichlid. Its beautiful. Its MUCH too big for the tank I've got it in.
Heres a really bad pic. Sorry about that, I'm trying not to stress him... anyone have a guess? I'm thinking its a Mbuna...of some kind...? Africans are not my forte. I'm not yet sure if I'm going to keep this guy or trade him...either way, very lovely fish.
The last pic is a necklace he got for me. He brought it home from Haiti. Sorry the pic is so bad..lol

Ideally, I'd like to know a little more specifically... That way, I can set up the best possible tank right from go...just having a bit of a time finding this dude. Since he was a gift, I didn't get to ask the guy who raised him.

It's been a long time, but I think you have the wrong lake. My guess would be some kind of Aulonocara -Lake Tanganika cichlid a male too judging from the color.

Very well could be. I usually deal in SA chichlids, the Africans are a mystery to me. I wasn't really planning on getting into them either, but my step bro is a generous sort. I've got enough 'stuff' around to do something for now. I guess I can do general water preferances, that kind of thing. But I am just looking for more info...I'm still scanning the interwebs as we speak. :p
