hi guys!

Ive been a long time lurker, and figured is join because you guys seem to know your stuff! Ive had a couple corns for awhile, and figured id try my hand at breeding (after extensive research, of course!) Well my proud little girl laid four healthy, fertile eggs this morning! I bought an exo-terra incubator, and set the temp at 83. Is that an okay temp? There are so many conflicting ideas on this subject and I just want to make sure. Also, what should I keep the humidity at? The vermiculite is damp, should I keep water in the bottom of the incubator as well? I just want to have healthy babes! And for mama, how long should I wait to feed her? She looks like a deflated balloon!

Thank you so much in advance for your advice!

Congratulations! That is wonderful. Where did you get your exo-terra incubator? I am the noobest of the noobs. I don't have any snakes yet.

If you were closer I would give you one of the babies when they hatch! Corn snakes are like potato chips, you cant have just one! They have the cutest faces and are one of the easiest to care for. Anyway, im lucky enough to have a reptile shop about ten minutes from me that sells anything one can ever need for a snake. You can buy incubators online too, I just didnt have time to wait for shipping!

Only 4 eggs? lol tiny clutch! But congrats. I think that the egg care sounds good... but I don't have many years of experience behind me to back that up...

With the humidity, I think you are okay if the eggs stay round, but still a little squishy, so they aren't turgid, or full, feeling. If they are full feeling then I think the humidity needs to be dropped. I have my current eggs in vermiculite, buried about 4/5ths of the way, with a paper towel on top to measure the dampness.

It was her first clutch, so I wasnt expecting a lot, but I was surprised to see only 4! If these babies hatch and are healthy, were going to try for more next year. Mine are only buried about half way, and feel plump. Im going to empty to water tray in the incubator, and just leave them in the damp vermiculite.

Thanks much!
