Nature Vs Nuture

SHAKSNAKE

The crappy keeper!
in your opinions, besides the obvious genetics factor.
do you think the beauty (colors, patterns) in a corn snake gets better and more vibrant with love and care?
or would you say its strictly genetics?

just a thought.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. That being said, I think that people grow attached to a certain pattern/morph. That is not to say that all snakes aren't beautiful, just that people have different tastes. I, personally, like almost any albino variation on snakes, snows and blizzards especially.

Care definitely is a factor cause a while ago (when i used sand) my snake was not very bright and as soon as he got new bedding, he loved it and brightened up in a hurry

yeah man! i swear i put these branches and this extra hide in my tank and my corn is brighter! i thought i was bugging out! lol

what do you use now? aspen?

More of "genetics" have a factor on how bright the color will be, & how big your snake is going to turn out.

BUT...:)

By the owner taking such wonderful care of their snake, this helps to bring out the best qualities in your snake.

With proper feeding & healthy living conditions (clean water, substrate, enough hides, areas to exercise).

Your little baby snakie will grow in to a big and beautiful adult snakie! :)

Your okeetee will also get more and more bright as it grows. When they were born, they were kind of brown colored. My bigger babies are way more orange than the ones that are a little smaller. His parents are both quite bright.

Yeah, i use colored aspen now... I think the reason that he brightened up is that the sand made everything so dry and now the aspen holds moisture better, so he is not so dry... therefore, Brighter!!
