hi i have a sliding roof to my cage biut i don't think it's hot enough inside what shall i do oh i have a heat mat.

How is your set-up set up?
How are you regulating the heat mat? How are you measuring the temperatures? What sort of thermometer are you using?

If you have a heat mat placed under the tank you have to make sure that it is controlled either by a thermostat or a rheostat. otherwise it could burn your snake.

Do you have digital thermometers to check your temps? You should have one on the hot side (wherever it is hottest) and one on the cool side. Hot should read around 80-83 F, cool around 70 F. If you have trouble keeping heat in you can always place a thick hand towel over a portion of the tank's top, mostly over the warm side. Make sure there is enough top left uncovered for proper ventilation. This will help a little, but make sure you have digital thermometers that are accurate!

Without more info it will be hard to help further. Good luck.

he will not allway be active he will come out at night and sleep during the day my corn snake is sleeping write now

the heat mat is underneath the cage (glass), the thermometer is reading 80 not sure if farren or degrees

Hang on please. An unregulated heatmat can reach well over 100 degrees. What sort of thermometer are you using? Is it like a dial or a stick-on strip?

seklo and cornmad:

Allow me to ask you a question or two.

Both of these usernames were registered from the same computer/IP. Your posts in this thread are from different IPs, but your writing style is exactly the same, i.e., zero punctuation and starting many posts with "hi". Obviously if you are not one person operating two profiles, then you are at least associated with each other. So why the Question-and-Answer session here, when you're obviously associated? I don't like trolling or "sock" accounts, so I'm hoping you have a good explanation so I don't have to ban anyone.

Better make it fast, too. I won't wait days for an answer...

I was going to ask if they're the same person....

Well, "they" were "both" on this thread for some time after I posted. Then cornmad logged out, and seklo's profile said they were replying to this thread. But they must have backed out of the reply. I smell a rat (not rats), and since "they" were given an opportunity to explain, but didn't, "they're" perm-banned. If "they" can PM me with an explanation that convinces me that "they're" not just playing around and wasting everyone's time, maybe I'll reverse the ban.

If this was a ploy to make cornmad seem knowledgable, then I suggest that the person gets help. It's pitiful.

I knew that name sounded familiar 'cornmad'. "How much is the snake I'm getting this weekend". Dang the whole time in the chat I was thinking troll but didn't think I should point out, twice in one week. I'm only so mean and rude. This is so sad makes one wonder about every noobie that comes into fourm. susang
