Hello fellow Corn lovers ^_^

I'm in the market for a plug station / dimmer that i can use to control the temps in my cages... As of yet i've been very unsuccesful in finding a good one at a reasonable price. Sooo... Any suggestions or recomendations?

Thank you for the Replys.

Coils- Actually thats what i have now but its not allowing me to bring the temprature down enough...

Adam- Great DYI! We're looking into that one...

Lost- I dont think that a multi-plug is going to work in my situation as i have three different tanks that i'm trying to control and unfortunately one of those is small.

=)

pssst I said multi plug AND multi dimmer ;) I have 4 plugs and four dimmers ... all are colored coded and it has worked so far ... :) and it's all in a plastic box with a lid so as to keep kids and water out ;)

Hey LostNFound...that is a pretty cool little set up!
I wish I would have thought of something like that instead of having a ton of single switch dimmers all over the place!

Holy crap lost, that's... damn kewl! The fiance is in love with the idea already=) Do you have spec's on that wonderful mock up or is it basicly the same as Ad's DYI with switchy dimmer awesomeness?

It's kinda the same ... I used a GROUNDED appliance extension cord to make sure it could handle the load. Do you know how to split the plugs?? if not I will get a plug and show you ;) you will have to wire 2 hots to each plugs one neutral and one ground .... I should have taken during pics but I have done this stuff my whole life I just didn't think about it.

he colors are just Sharpie and the way I keep the cords straight is coding them too ... in the pics the green wire tie wrapped around wire at the plug base lets me know thats Avy's.

I can give you more detailed specs if you need 'em just let me know ... I can even open it up and snap a few shots under the covers ... (sorry ... but that last bit is cause for a totally inappropriate giggle hehehehe) Same basic design ... just a bit more wire ... most of this stuff I just went to my dad's house and grabbed outta the shed so as far as cost I am not sure althought I could add it up sometime.... and I went with decora plugs (a bit more $$) 'cause I like 'em and not the cheapest dimmers... Still even though I didn't get the cheapest types of everything, it FAR less expensive than 4 bought from the store.

like I said if you need any thing else... let me know ;)

Please do share more detailed specs! I hope to have at least 3 snakes total by this time next year and this would really help!

I have no self control LOL! I just have limited income. We have to have money for 3 kids, car expenses, a ferret, a mouse colony, and Rose. So I have to save for new additions. Not just their stuff but building up the emergency vet account. Now if the animal is FREE I have absolutely no self control. Like the breeding colony of gerbils I am picking up tomorrow lol!
