Logan256

Dabbling since 2003.
Anybody know what he is?
I picked him up in a pet store about 2 months ago. The color in the pictures is him freshly shed.
The top of his body and head is sort of washed out, more like a snow or opal, but down his sides towards his belly are bright crimson red markings.
Anyone know? I've never seen anything quite like him.
:shrugs:
Thanks,
Logan

Well, that the little snake is some amel is clear I think^^

I am not sure but would say it is a snow.
Maybe you can get some more pics for us?
I had a snow who had those red patterns on the side as well. Now they are nearly gone.
Greetings
Chris

Wow! What a truelly unusual snake!!!

Maybe an unusual coral snow? It's definitely not a normal, straight foreward anything...VERY NICE FIND!!

Thanks everyone! Here are a few more pics of the snake, from a few different angles. Forgive my cheap(ish) camera and mediocre photography skills, lol. None of these pics show the sharp contrast in color on his sides like the first two posted do, but trust me it's intense.

He certainly is an anomally! lol Never seen anything quite like him!!! I would guess, seeing new pics, that he's some sort of amel...some of my friends fluorescents look very similar when they are hatchlings, they usually grow out of it and get brighter as they get bigger...lol

I would also say its an annormal amel.
But still there is a small chance of a snow in my eyes, if a snow is possible (looking at the parents)
Hope you will show us pictures after some sheds.
Greetings
Chris

It's an amel. It just doesn't have as much color as the other amels, that's all. It happens.

Thanks everyone! :)
I've been calling it a "Special" Amel paperwork wise, but what really gets me about this snake is the fact that it's top half is so perfectly diluted, while it's side patterns are just as red (or redder) than any other bright amel. In person the snake almost looks as though someone pulled a Frankenstein on him-Opal on top, Amel on bottom.
Weird.

He looks amelish, but I would definately label him a KEEPER!
Please post progreesion pics of this one!

He is definately very cool looking. I have an amel named Incubus, he was snow on top with orange sides and a bit of orange in between the saddles. But now he is one of my most intense amels. Heres his most recent pic...

I definately would love to see progression threads of your little guy though

This is what he used to look like.. This picture is from Ben Seigal, which is where my little guy came from, I think the one on top is him, based on head patterns..

EXCELLENT example of just how pale amels can be and just how much color can come in as they grow!

I wonder if this is some variant on how the bloodred works? Gaining lots of red as they age?

Weeird.... and cool!
