Need Technical Help (frustrating)

Hello, I am a new member and I was trying to post a new thread, I got it all typed out and everything, but then when i tried to attach a picture to my post (as i have seen many other people do in other posts) i ran into a variety of problems...
1. i downloaded the pictures from my camera to my computer and put them in a file
2. when i tried to upload the picture into my my post using the "Manage Attachments" button, there was an error stating that JPG files being attached have an 800x1024 dimensions limit
3. so then i take the picture into Paint and try to resize it to 800x1024, but Paint only allows me to use dimensions 1-500
4. so i try to resize the picture within the 500 dimension limit but it ends up coming out all weird shaped and stretched out or something
I was very looking forward to my first post as a new member as i thought it was a pretty good & fun topic, but this really put a damper on my spirits, any and all help would be much appreciated!!

Do you have any other photo software, like Photoshop? Maybe you didn't have your Paint program keep the aspect ratio the same as the original image (1.3333 to 1 making your limits 375 X 500). You can also get an account in PhotoBucket, where you can download your image there and then insert a link. (You may need to resize your image for that as well, as really large images makes viewing by members difficult.)

It took me a while to figure it out, too. I am BARELY computer literate, anyway. But I just load all of the photos I want to post into Photobucket (free and easy to use, even for me!). Then it is simple.

Photobucket just recently added a new feature to allow you to email a photo from your computer to your account on their site, so it is even easier than before.

There's an online picture resizing site called picresize.com that I use when I'm at work. It's pretty simple. (I thought the max dimension, vertical _or_ horizontal, here, was 800 pixels). Or just put your pics on Photobucket and have them automatically resized for "Forum' which is 600x.

hey, i tried that picresize.com thing and it worked perfectly! thanks everyone for the help, i really appreciate it! :) this is an excellent website
