Never strikes?

My snake Xerxes never strikes, not even when presented with a pinky. He simply just opens up the hatch and swallows it. He's also very relaxed and brave. The only time he's in his hide in his tank is to use the heat pad otherwise he just chills out in the open or is exploring. And when he's being handled he's likes to curl up next to/on you and sleep. Do I need to be concerned that he's acting so cool, or am I just incredibly lucky to have such a chill snake? And is his temperament likely to change as he grows?

Most won't strike at defrosted food, although I do have a couple which give it the roly-poly-kill routine. Being cold-blooded animals, energy is precious. I think most can sense when something doesn't need subduing and they just won't bother wasting energy doing it. It only makes sense to strike and constrict if you think the food is going to fight back in some way.

Sounds like you have a very confident and relaxed corn, who's being brought up properly. You should be a proud Papa!
