New addition

Well, that's actually why i was hoping for some comments, hihi.
I bought her at a show here in Holland last sunday from a French guy who didn't speak English very well. He told me a very hard to understand story about her being anery, motleystriped and something codominant, with especially the codominant part being hard to understand, I asked him if she was an ultramel, and what he said then I really did not get lol. According to him, this was a new codominant gene or something.
However, I thought she was absolutely stunning, so I had to have her no matter what :D

anery and striped yes, but i'm not entirely sure what defines a "motley." i thought it was circles going down the spine near the head, which i don't see much of on this beauty! but either way, it is a very, very beautful snake, and i (and i'm sure everyone else) fully anticipates a progression thread!!

I would say she's a very pretty ghost motleyxstripe :)

Thanks :D, but (please correct me if i'm wrong) ghosts usually don't have ruby eyes, right? Her eyes are ruby red, which is why i thought she was an ultramel anery. I'm no expert on this though, so i could be very wrong :)

Motley actually means that it has a variable pattern, if you look it up in the dictionary, motley means assorted. Not all motleys have circles, though a good number do. When you combine motley with stripe, it can create some pretty weird patterns, one of which would look like the above snake. That could have been the co-dom the seller/breeder was referring to - the snake having one motley gene and one stripe gene.

As for whether it is a ghost (hypo anery) or an ultramel anery, it's hard to say without breeding trials. There are some ghosts out there that have ruby eyes. I would lean towards saying it was a ghost motley/stripe though, because it's tones are more brown than gray, but that could just be the motley/stripe influencing the colors.

Either way, it is a beautiful animal. Congrats on finding such a beautiful critter.

Thanks :D
I'm going to pair her with my snow motley in a few years, so i guess i'll know for sure then :)
Forgot to mention that the breeder was referring to a type of hypo when he talked about codom, and since ultra is a form of hypo... :shrugs:
I'm calling her Mystery :D

Could be ultra than... won't know for a couple of years though, when you actually breed her. In the mean time, please be sure to post pictures of her often - will be interesting to see how her colors change as she matures.

It doesn't have ruby eyes- that's the camera flash, it looks like it's iris is blue.

I would say first glance it is ghost motley-stripe, with not a lot of motley influence.

But because of what the person said, I would say it has a good chance of being an ultramel anery.

You don't need the stripe gene to make a pin-striped motley. A homozygous motley can look exactly like this snake.

Only breeding trials will tell you is this is simply a gorgeous ghost motley or an ulramel anery motley. It will also tell you if it is indeed het for stripe or homozygous motley.

The ruby-eyes is not about the iris color, but the color of the pupil itself, which was made more prominent by the flash. And having ruby-eyes does not necessarily make the snake an ultramel when found in either ghosts or laveners/hypo lavenders.

Thanks for all your comments guys!
Time will tell what she is, and untill i can start breeding her to my snow mot, i'll be posting pics of her regularly. If she is indeed a ghost, that would be great aswell, because my snow is possibly also hypo, so that will (or will not) be proven then aswell.
I'm really curious to see what she will grow up to look like! :D

She's beautiful!
Stripes look good on anyone. What I really like about her is how WHITE her white is. She's got so much contrast. And she looks like caramel vanilla cream candy.
