So today I got my last three corns, all cute, all friendly, but the phantom hit it out of the park. I know they are not dogs, I know they don't love humans like dogs do but I am def a little guilty of anthropomorphism here.. I took the lid off to take a picture, and she came out, I didn't even have to pick her up. She just cruised up my arm and that was that.. she settled in on my hoodie and just relaxed.. She stole my heart..

She is from Tavia's clutch, you want an amazing phantom go to her, she has a couple left..

All gorgeous babies! Congrats on so many great additions!

@crzymom, there are several ways to tell but experience counts for a lot in all of them! With babies, popping, applying a rolling pressure below a snake's vent, up toward the vent, will cause the snake's genitals to "pop" out. This can hurt the snake if you don't know what you are doing, so it's not really recommended that you try it on your own. But there are a bunch of videos out there that show how and to be honest, a lot of breeders have had to teach themselves how, if they couldn't find a local breeder that already knew how to teach them and lots of times vets, at least all the ones around here, anyway, don't know how to sex snakes either.

Then there is probing, which is using a metal rod of the right size and inserting it into the snakes vent, towards the tail and counting how many scales in it will go, males go deeper than a female. Again, if you don't know what you are doing, you can really hurt the snake by trying that, so again not recommended that one teach oneself how to do that.
In lightly pigmented young snakes you can actually candle them (using an LED light, not an actual candle) and you can see the blood vessels that are present in a male's hemipenes. It's a nice non invasive way to check but works best if you have a known male and female to clearly see the difference the first time you try it. And it doesn't work on babies with too much dark pigments and only on the young, while their skin is still kind of opaque.

Crzymom I go by what the breeders have told me... Which is likely the more right thing, but they are sometimes wrong.. for me it doesn't really matter... I got a bunch of cute and healthy snakes.. and thank you Tavia.. I have to say though favorite is the girl I got from you!

Thank you, I guess I will just wait and see if they breed and then I'll know at least that I have one of each and if not I guess I'll never know what they are, LOL.

Ravenessa, your phantom sweetheart is my phantom sweethearts clutchmate, Haze! (I admit, haze is my favorite corn snake!) When I want to hold a little snakey to relax, she's my go to honey. 😊 she's perfectly relaxed slithering through my fingers and onto my shirt. She usually ends up in my hair. Tomorrow she makes 5 months! I will try to remember to get an updated pic when I feed her tonight. She just shed. Congratulations on all your new slithery friends!

HA! that's awesome!! We need to keep tabs on them together... And yeah I don't know if snakes inherent temperament as dogs do, or it's just Tavia's magic touch with them.. either way she is hands down my favorite.. When the others got fed tonight though she got a little sad.. she was looking for her food, but she's in blue so Im just leaving her be.. I felt so mean not to give her one :( She's like where's MY food?? Now she is going to think Im a mean mommie.. (and yes I totally anthropomorph animals)..

How big is yours? Mine is huge.. OH and she finally have an official name: Avalon I felt that was a suitable regal snake man for being the queen of my little collection..

sheesh she's even bigger than mine, she's gorgeous, her markings in the second pictures just stands out!... Holy moly! I guess tavia wasn't kidding about the size of her babies.. and yes Ill keep the thread open but you better post too.. :D

Is there more siblings around here?

Most of the babies so far have gone to members of this forum, here is another thread with some pictures of the siblings.

Shiari, Glenaerie, Hopeless and Ladyjustice33 also have siblings, Ladyjustice ended up with my one stubborn non feeder from the clutch and did a great job getting her to eat! Shiari ended up with the one I was most tempted to keep.
If you haven't seen it, here is the thread that details everything from Stormy and Vash breeding, laying eggs and finally hatching.

I feel like a doting aunt when I see other babies from Tavia's phantom clutch finding happy homes! I have two beautiful, healthy, gentle girls from this clutch. They are a delight!

lol Hi there Glenaerie!! I can understand that feeling..

I think its awesome... I was in the other threads looking at the pictures and it just warms my heart that I can follow her whole life and now she will be with me for the rest of it..

I can't wait until she sheds so I can take fresh shed pics, cuddle her and feed her again. I think it will be so fun to be able to compare our snakes! (isn't that what HE said?) sorry I had to..

Interesting how all of them are so tame and calm, I know people say reptiles can't be domesticated but I wonder..

I know however that Avalon will be perfect for the reptile educations I do, she keeps that temper up she will be the first snake I introduce the kids too... I usually start them out with holding my little leopard gecko who is a cuddle bug, then we work our way up to the bearded dragon, and then the big guy savannah monitor.. and after that we will now have a corn snake!

I am so glad I joined this forum!!

I'm sorry I just never saw the answers I always checked back but never got the answers idk maybe there's something wrong with my phone:/ sorry
