New Corn!

I got a new corn snake! He's a normal as far as I can tell, and his pattern's neat(to me anyways).
Here he is:

His side pattern:

His back pattern:

i just checked out kathy love's pics with her normals. and they look nothing like MY normal. he is BRIGHT ORANGE. i mean FLOURESCENT. i'm going to try and post a pic of him, but it doesn't near show his colors. i'm confused...

blckkat,

How much black is in the saddle rings? It is really hard to tell from that pic. You could have a Hypo. The hypo gene brightens most colors since the amount of black is reduced.

Maybe he's not normal(shows what I know). That's what he resembles most that I've seen, though he's not bright colorwise.

no matter what i do, none of the pics i try to post do him any sort of justice. but i'm telling you, he is no where near the pics posted by Kathy Love of her normals. let me see if i can scan him...heh heh...

Your new corn could be a miami phase,.... with the nice greyish undertones...

but a rose by any other name would smell just as sweet. You have a very stunning corn, congrats on your new addition.

Both snakes look normal to me. Many things can influence how the photos look. I.E. your moniter. your computer. Also all normals look different. Some are more brown, some are BRIGHT red, and some are BRIGHT orange or drab silver or drab orange.

Okeetees are also quite bright.

Here's blckcat's picture...lightened

It was too dark to tell anything...

If you're using a digital camera try taking the picture outside, but under a porch or overhang out of the direct sunlight. Cloudy days work well also. This should give you much higher quality pics that aren't so dark.

i'm a poor college student who can't afford a digital camera. the SCAN i posted before corncrazy lightened it is his actual coloring. at least the coloring on my screen is correct.

blckcat...

almost all I can see is black in that picture. I really couldn't see the snake at all. I hope I didn't offend you by posting a lighter one...

By the way, it looks like he may be an Okeetee. Look at Kathy Love's Okeetee pictures and see what you think.

here's Kathy Love's oketee examples (hope she doesn't mind me posting it here)...

OKEETEE%20collage%20-%20CAPTION.jpg

He has that bright orange base color, but not that dark head seen on the top left one. Also his tummy his orange and black, not white and black (like that seen on the one on the top right). That red/orange matches his blotches too. I dunno...

So...

what do you think? You snake has wide black bands around it's saddles. And it is that gorgeous orange color...

I edited my above post btw...

I don't know what to think. He looks like the okeetees...but I was told he was normal...grr...darn morphs...maybe I'll have him go on a trip to school to use the digital cameras...and while I'm at it I'll take better pics of EVERYONE...

:)

Okeetees are NORMALS...

Or at least that's my understanding.

If you will notice that the snake on the right (with it's belly showing) has some orange on it as well...near the grass. I guess your snake could be crossed with something that gave it's belly the orange color. I bet you could write to Kathy Love to see if she would mind giving you her opinion.

hmmm doesnt look like a

rosy rat snake from the keys atleast not like any i have seen
To me it looks to be a hybrid between a corn and something else maybe a gray rat snake and as far as i know the term "normal" when dealing with corn snakes refers to the coloration of the "usual" wild caught corn which can vary from location to location so there shouldnt be any set characteristics for "normal" coloration like there is for lets say an okeetee phase corn snake
did that make any sense?¿
