New Feeding Schedule

Charlotte

Derp snake says hi.
OK, so I had Loki on large hoppers/small adults once a week, per the Munson plan. He was not getting a bulge from them, and digested them easily in one/two days.

Recently I upgraded him to "jumbo mice"...

I was planning to put him on rat pups, but EBV was out of f/t, so I went with jumbo mice. This batch is a little..er...bloody...but Loki seems to love it  The past two hoppers were a bit of a battle, but he took his first jumbo mouse within the minute, which I was thrilled about.

So, I was thinking of moving up to every 10 days as opposed to once a week. A friend told me it should be every 14 days, but that seems a little extreme as I can still see backbone on Lok. What do you guys say?

I think most people feed their adult males every 14 days. What do you mean you can see his back bone? You should see a slight indent along the spine.

I feed once every 14-21 days but it very much depends on the individual. I'd rather feed too little than too much. If you want to go with the 14 days then try it. If he loses weight you'll be watching and can bump feeds back up again. It's certainly easier to get weight on than to get flab off!

None of my adults get anything larger than a large mouse, so with jumbos I'd definitely go longer.
