Just picked him (the guy at the store sexed him for me just before I got him) up, my first snake, I've wanted one for years~ (excuse the bad pictures, my phone isn't the greatest and doesn't do his pretty colors justice.)

He doesn't have a name yet, but he does have a broken saddle on him that looks almost like a heart, I'll see if I can get a better picture of it sometime, but for now he's getting comfortable with his new home!

Thanks! I ordered the thermostat as well, it should arrive in 10-15 days, so hopefully we'll be okay with just a heat lamp for the time being, with close monitoring of the temp and humidity.

He's such a cutie! Amels are one of my favorite morphs, and my mom actually LIKES him, and she doesn't like snakes, so success! Haha, I'll get her to fall for him eventually ;P he's super cute so it won't be hard. He poked his head out to see me when I went down there a bit ago, so he seems pretty confident, I really haven't noticed him being particularly shy, skittish or aggressive, he has a really nice temperament for a young snake. At least better when I was expecting.

I did a proper search for a name tonight and decided to name him Keo (key-oh) taken from the Vietnamese word for candy, so he's a... Candy corn B)

Thanks guys! Haha, he's adorable. I haven't seen him out moving around since I got him, but every time I go down there he's in a different spot, and the little nub knocked his plant off last night, so I know he's moving around, just not when I'm there.

We had him out for a little bit today because I had to make some adjustments to his substrate (I got the thermostat today, so I had to make sure he was getting the proper temps and such) and I figured taking him out would be better then moving him around in the cage as I worked. But anyways we got some pictures while he was out.

He really seemed to like the camera too, he kept trying to climb on it/my sister, it was adorable and my sister thought it was the cutest thing.

Also my sister requested I use some of the smilies because she thought they were cool, so: :eatpointe :noevil:

Super cute! An amel was (is?) my first corn as well. I love the reds on snakes. Yours looks like he has thicker than normal white borders.

I love the reds as well, I haven't seen many Amel's I didn't like, so I thought it was a good first choice.

You have a good point though! He does have pretty big white borders, I never really noticed. I'm not complaining though, I like the bigger white borders that the reverse okeetee has even, so whatever he ends up with is fine by me. I guess we'll see better as he gets bigger.

My first was an amel too!
He is 17 years old this year.......

Love the reds and messed up saddles on yours. I am a sucker for messed up saddles.....makes them all individuals.

Thanks guys!

Wow, 17 years? That's awesome! And yes I like his broken saddles too, he has two of them at least and they look kind of like hearts, it's really cute.

I fed him tonight for the first time and he ate like a champ! No hesitation at all and he even struck at it, I'm very proud of the little guy. I took a few pictures while I was watching him, too.

Yeah it was pretty exciting when he took it so readily. There was even a poop in there for me when I did a once over of his cage while he was eating, which was also nice to see as well.

Next hurdle to get over: Shedding haha. Might be a few weeks yet for that.

I snapped a few more pictures while I had him out today, so I figured I'd update. He seems to have found a new favorite spot hehe.

He literally sat up there for 5-10 minutes while I put all his things back in his cage after cleaning, and when I tried to take him off he curled around my hair and didn't want to let go!
