New Guy From SD

:DHi my name is Reiner im 13 and have always loved herps my folks dont like snakes all that much. But I reasoned with my mom and asked her at a great time, she was with a friend who was corn snake breeder so yeah thats me. I got my first corn, a female hypo motley named Nikki, about 3 weeks ago. Its my first snake and I was wondering if anybody had some tips. Shes a good eater and she has not shown any problems but im open for tips.

Welcome Reiner.
Congrats on getting a snake. Can you tell us about your set up, tank size ,temps in the tank (cage) the bedding your using. This will help us with any tips.
But first tip might be a not handling period of 4-7 days to let the snake settle in its new home. this help relieve any stress that might lead to a feeding issue.

I could go on and on but if you read all the sticky of top of each forum that will help you get started.

Good luck with your snake.

Hey! welcome to the site!! "It's great that you're mom's friend is a breeder! Be sure to take advantage of her expertise as well as the information everybody here can provide you with! There are some very very knowledgeable people here!

I'm not sure what type of tips you're looking for but it's a good idea to read the FAQ at the top of this forum and to look through other posts! Just spend some time around this forum and you'll come to know [almost] everything you need to know about corns!!!!

again, welcome to the site!!

Hey guys thanks 4 the replies. First shes in a 20 gallon long tank with a megium water bowl, two hides, and a grapewood branch. I kee the temp around 80 - 85 on the warm end and in the 70ies on the cool side with house humidity. Also she is on aspen shavings for bedding

Welcome, and congratulations. You're off to a great start, it seems. In addition to the other tips, you may want to purchase a book or two to have on hand. "Corn Snakes: The Comprehensive Owner's Guide," by Kathy Love is great. "Corn Snakes in Captivity" by Don Soderberg is nice, too.

If you read the stickys at the Husbandry and Basic Care folder, you'll find all your answers there, including not only setups, but also heating and everything else. :)

Welcome, and congradulations on the new snake. I would also say to read the care sheet articles, but if you have a local pet store that has books on corn snakes, that would be ideal. I would recommend the corn snake guide by Kathy Love, it's full of great information, and should be somewhat easy to find.

Welcome to the forum! Can't wait to see pics of your new snake :0) There are so many people here that are always ready to share their advice and answer any questions you may have..Hope you enjoy your stay :0)
