New Noob Here!

Neonate

Snake Lover
Hello Everybody!!
New snake owners here. We got our first corn 4 weeks ago yesterday. It hasn't been sexed, but he/she is a motley/stripe. It can be seen in our avatar. He is really shy and seems to not like us at all but this seems normal after reading the forum. The humidy goes from 49-55%, I hope this is ok, is 55 too high? He has grown a lot this past month so I will have to get some new pics.
Oh yeah, we are in Northern California. :wavey:

Hello and Welcome to the Forums!!!

The humidity shouldn't be a problem, just keep it like your house is. You can mist the cage every once in a while (or just do it while he/she is in shed).

You can not be 100% accurate by looking at the tail. If you really want to know what sex it is (only really important if you want to breed in the future) you will need to take it to someone who knows how to pop or probe snakes (In this case probably popping will be the best idea).

Good luck.

congrats on your first corn, welcome to the forum and that is a very nice looking snake you've got there. As for sexing it, if you bought it at a reptile shop, they may be able to pop or probe the snake to determine gender. Or find a qualified herp vet in your area and take it to them. Hope that helps. :)
