Hi Adam! Nice looking snake you have there! My understanding of a sunglow is a type of amel specifically bred to show no white around the saddles and bright solid orange in between. To me your guy looks like a regular amel (nothing wrong with that, i have one myself!). I find that people in Britain label there snakes all sorts of fabulous names to get more interest from buyers! Welcome to the forum.

I got him for nothing :)
I work in property maintenance, came across him in an abandoned property, the owners just left all there possesions and left due to rent arrears of something. The council said i could take him home otherwise he would go to a rescue centre. So i put him in a pillowcase in a small box, and his viv which is a bit too small for him, in the back of my van and took him home :) he had been alone for almost a month when i got him, but he eats fine, is very friendly, he loves being handled, curls up in my hoody pocket or goes up my sleeves lol. Only thing im concerned about is that i am yet to see him shed, how often do they shed at 5ft long?
Im also getting him a bigger viv :)

Hello and welcome!

I love that story of you rescuing him! :D
He's a lucky boy to have you, and good job on getting him a bigger viv too!

You most have obviously saved his life, this post made my morning.

A 4'x2'x2' viv would be plenty big enough wouldnt it? With a mid level shelf on the cold side too

nice!!! I can never understand why people just leave them behind! property ok, but your pet?

That would be a mansion for a corn! Good job on the rescue! He looks non the worse for ware. Adults usually shed once every 3 months or so. What r u feeding him and how often?

He is now my pet yes :) i wont be giving him up
I have just fed him now, i found him last monday so ive only had him a week, he had a jumbo mouse last monday as soon as i got him home, as he had been a month with no food/water and he has just had another one today, and he gets fresh water every day

So would 4x2x2 be too big? I want him to have a home for life, hes roughly 5ft already so want hime to have room incase he gets bigger

A month without food is nothing to an adult corn. They really don't need anything bigger than a large mouse, or xl mouse for big guys. Adult males only need to be fed every 10-14days. A jumbo mouse every week will give you a fat snake, and its really hard to get weight off once its on. A 4x2x2 is not necessary for a corn, but I'm sure that if you have the room for a viv that size he'll appreciate the space!:)

Im not going to feed him every week, i just want to make sure he's ok before i get him into a feeding routine of every fortnight

I'm still new to corns myself, so I don't have advice for you. I did want to say that corn is lucky to have found such a good home with you. And I'm sure you will enjoy him for many years to come.
