I just recieved my snow, and im not sure about a few things. 1. The pinkie I bought looks too big for the little snake. 2. Is there some way you can tell if it's a boy or a girl without visiting the vet? 3. If the answer is no to #2, then how much would it cost for a vet to sex your snake? 4. Im not sure how old it is, and I will post a pic asap, but right now i dont have one.

A good source of information about your corn is at http://www.corn-utopia.com/ Kathy Love also has a cornsnake manual that has alot of information on keeping cornsnakes. On her site she also has some information about checking on the sex of the snake by looking at the tail shape, however its not a sure proof way. It's a good idea to take it to someone who can probe the snake for the sex, who is very experience with doing it.

Your hatchling however should have no problems eating the pinkies. Their mouths do come unhinged when they eat to allow them to take in a big mouthful.

okay, it just looks so much bigger than her head, its hard to believe she could eat it. (im calling it a she until i find out for sure). how much does it cost to get your snake probed?

That I can't help you with the price of what they charge for probing, I bought my snake from Kathy Love and I was given the sex that I had requested.

The only thing I could suggest would call a local vet get a price from him, or if you can find a breeder in your area that person may do it for you even cheaper then the vet will.

i did, but they said they didn't know (they said the age was 5 to 8 weeks, too, but i dont know nething about how a snake is supposed to look at whatever age, and thought i better check anyway)

Yay! Thank you all who posted here! All my problems are solved! I peeled the leftover piece of skin off of her, and she ate the head and shoulders of a thawed pinky mouse! I am so happy...
