I got my snake last saturday, he ate on tuesday, but I was told by the reptile store that I got him at that I shouldn't handle him till he has eaten twice. what do you guys think? :shrugs:

thanks,
Noob

You can handle him. It is usually best to wait 3 days after getting a new snake and always at least 24 hours after eating to handle.

I'd say wait 48 hours mininimum after eating.
and three days after bringing the snake home to let it get settled.

better safe than sorry?

I usually handle new snakes as soon as I get them.
I just can't bring home a new addition and not have a brief "get aquainted" session.
If he ate Tuesday, I say take him out and enjoy your new friend

I always handle them for about 5-10 minutes when I first get them home, just so they know I won't hurt them. Then I wait 2 days, feed them, and wait 2 more days before I begin any "real" handling sessions.

we hung out for about 1/2 an hour today and now he is so much more social. he hangs out in his viv and isn't afraid of life. thanks for the advice.
