New snake owner/new to forums

Hello. I just acquired an albino corn snake (though she/he looks like what you all keep calling an amel). Its name is Phoenix because the deep red reminded me of the fiery phoenix bird. I am very excited as I have always wanted a snake and this one is a lovely little thing.
The place I got her said that she is 11 months old and she is about 18inches long (though not sure of weight). Is this a healthy size? Also they were feeding her a pinky every 7 days but I saw a lot of people on here mention that for the younger snakes they should get one every five days. Which is better as I want to make sure she is getting the right amount of food.
I am also very new to forums so since I have a lot of questions about her care (I want to make sure she gets the best care possible) do I go to another section to ask questions. Like I said this is all new and I am quite excited about my new baby as well as talking with other snake owners and enthusiasts who have experience. (also I would post a picture but not sure how to on here) :)

Hi and welcome to the group. Glad to hear you got such a pretty snake, now you have to show us how pretty she is (there's multiple ways to post pictures, you can either link to them from another site, like photobucket, with the [ img] [ / img] tags or you can click on the Paperclip button that will say Attachments when you hover over it, and upload an image from your computer)! As for her size and weight, it's really hard to say what is "healthy" in younger snakes, since they all seem to grow at different rates. If you post any pictures where some of the more veteran and experienced members can get a good look at her, they can at least tell you if she looks unhealthy at all. At 11 months old I'd think she should be eating more than just a single pinky every 7 days. But it's hard to tell without seeing her again (to get an idea of girth). On the topic of feeding schedule though, some will suggest 5 days some will suggest 7 days. There's members who start with and stick to a 7 day schedule, others will start with a 5 and move to 7 later and 10 even later. So it's hard to get a real good idea there as to whats "proper". The important thing mostly would be to try and avoid power feeding her, as this can lead to poor health and issues.

When it comes to questions, I've seen them asked anywhere and everywhere here, but the sub sections are broken up to handle certain topics. But at least myself, and probably others, have this habit of reading just about every new and newly responded to thread at least a couple times a day. So chances are, even if you ask a question about injury in the breeding section, someone will more than likely still see it and respond. I encourage using the proper sub section though, since it helps keep information related to certain topics together and easier for others to find later.

hi welcome. My amel - Angel gets fed every 5 days she is 18 months but i think that is the usual for this age group. As for food size it depends on how big she is. You will get lots of good advice in this site they are an awesome bunch xx

What an adorable snake!
My boy is younger than that (he was born very very end of January I'm told) and thinner/shorter than yours and he gets fed a pinky every 5 days, and last week I dabbed and fed him two pinkys which he took very well with no issues (most likely because these pinks are on the smaller side). I think for yours every five days should work too. The food jump should stick around for a little bit. My boy has a noticeable little bump for about 24 hours.
