got a corn snake for my son which has pretty much ended up being mine and I have a question. I have had the snake for a few months now and recently she has gone into hiding, it was just about the time it started to get colder. Is this normal ? Do they hibernate? :shrugs:

Welcome :D isn't that always the way when you buy a pet for a child? :santa:

Maybe your snake is ready to shed. My little boy is really active most of the time but when it's time to shed we don't see him for a couple of days.

(also some corns just enjoy their solitude & hide most of the time)

Hi
Its totaly normal for a corn to hide for long periods of time and i would be suprised if your corn didn't hide as thats what they generally do most of the day.
Prieta is right it could be going into shed but since you have had your corn for several months i expect you know their behaviour while in blue mode??

I used to be like your son and made my mum do all the dirty work but since ive found snakes i find them the easiest pet to care for since sea monkeys and pet rocks.

I'm sure that it's probably going to be easier for him to help when the snake is bigger also.

Keep him involved though :D This is a great hobby.

wild snake

We got this snake from a bunch of eggs we found in the woods and hatched, originally we had 13 :crazy02: but let all but this one go. I have noticed that it lacks alot of the vibrant colors of the store bought snakes but still has an awesome pewter color with almost burgundy markings. oh well enuff rambling and once again thanks for the help

Well wild corns aka normals, okeetee's,miami's and the rest of the wild types are dull to stop predators from seeing them. Its near enough impossible to find corn snake morphs in the wild unless they have been released or escaped from their viv.
