New to snakes

I have always wanted a snake but have always lived with people who were afraid of snakes. I don't understand the fear, but then again I have also kept pet rats and people seem to be afraid of those, too.

I finally got my hands on a beautiful three month old creamsicle corn snake and named it Fluffy. (I watched the movie Despicable Me recently and got the name from there.) No, I'm not a little kid. I'm 23 with a Peter Pan complex.

I currently have Fluffy in a ten gallon because I had an extra one lying around from when I had rats. I'm currently scanning craigslist for a good 55 gallon for Fluffy.

What I love most about my snake is that it has not once tried to nip at me and it seems to love when I take it out because, though it runs through my fingers to try to explore the area around me, if I let it down it will eventually just curl up in my lap and go to sleep. I can't wait until Fluffy gets bigger so I can let it roam around more without fearing that i won't be able to catch it or find it again.

I also have a dog, two cats, and currently three fish tanks.

I hope to get a blizzard corn snake as my next pet.

Creamsicles are pretty! I'd love to get a blizzard, too. I also had rats before I had snakes, and yeah, everyone seemed to be creeped out by those... Craigslist is an awesome place to get tanks. I've gotten every one of my 20-longs - with either a lid or a heater or both - for $25 or less.

hi there and welcome to the forum. we do love pics so when you have a min. post a few. I would keep Fluffy in the 10gal for a while. Small snakes can be overwhelmed in a tank like to 55 gal your looking for it's also important to keep the temps regulated in a big tank. Most corns would do fine in a 20 long all their life.

I am getting a 20 long slide top this weekend for 20 bucks from a c-list add :D I got a 30 gal? (same length as a 20 long but taller) for free from a girl on c-list. One snake came with hers and the other came from the Goodwill :) I am the queen of second hand shopping! Nothing beats a good deal.
