hi i've come across this site in my quest to find a corn snake

let me tell you what i've learned about corns so far and hopefully some of you can help fill in the gaps

There are two main genes involved in color that produce melanine (black color in the snake) and some sort of red pigment

R = dominant red producing gene
r = recessive "broken" gene

B= dominant black producing gene
b= recessive "broken" gene

what other genes are involved in producing the multitudes of different types of corn snakes?

what is the difference between an amel and a blood red? do bloodreds have RRbb? or do they have RrBB? or RRBb?

are zigzag, striped, and motley the only 3 types of patterns? what about "normal" is that another pattern?

i really love the looks of amel bloodred corn snakes. anyone know a good place to buy one? how much should i expect to pay for one?

what's your favorite all-inclusive book on corn snakes?

man i'm hopeless

All is not lost.... As far as working out the genes, (no set standard on symbols), there isn't anywhere better than here, Corn Morphs, and he even has a book on it, and the other books you'll want are from Kathy Love, as well as Don Soderberg... and to answer some of your questions, Bloodred is a pattern too, (Amel Bloodred is called a Fire), and they aren't that expensive anymore, but you'll have to shop around... I believe you may even find them on two of the sites listed... There are also plenty of breeders on this forum, as well as this sites owner... Good luck! :cheers:
