Hey all,
Im leanne and I just recently purchased a 5 month old snakey:D
Although i'm new to owning a snake, i'm not new to loving them lol, i've wanted one since I was in primary school and I can't believe I actually own one now.
I will try and post pictures of spiro as soon as I can :)

Hello welcome to the forum this is a awesome forum alot of great advise on here so come in and join us. ;)

Haha, thank you :) I do have a quick question actually, how long should I handle him for or does it just depend on the snakes temperament?

Well if you just got him I would not handle him for like a week because right now the stress of him going to one place to another is hard on them. Give it a week and then when you start handleing him start off with only maybe 5 minutes a day. And if he is okay with that then move up to 10 minutes and so on. And I say you know you don't handle them after feeding for like 24 to 48 hours. :)

Oh no not another newbie. Welcome to the forum. Once your new baby settles in you will have to post pictures. :)

Welcome to the forum
I'm pretty new too-- had my snake for almost 3 months now, and I've found that handling is pretty learn-as-you-go. I would definitely agree with other comments to start with shorter periods of time (~10 min) and work your way up.

I'd also say it's good to "end on a positive note". If everything is going well: you're relaxed, their reasonably calm and all is going well, that's a good time to put them back (if you're ready). If at any point they panic or jump, just hold them until they relax before ending the handling session :)
