Hey hows it going? I just purchased an Albino Cornsnake. Its a hatchling about 14" long. Has amazing red eyes, fed him/her for the first time on monday. Rule of thumb is to handle it 48hrs after feeding?

I have a 10gall setup with non cedar/pine woodchips, with water dish, UTH pad, I got one small enough for a 5gal, Put a nice slate rock in there that he likes to hide under, I also put a cut in half paper towel roll on the "cool" side of the tank. I was worried at first that he was only staying where the UTH was, but i was wrong, woke up this morning and he was in the roll on the cool side. Sorry its long im just excited. I will get some pictures up ASAP.

Whats the best kind of plants to have? should i get real or fake ones?

Thanks,

Jeremy

Welcome Jeremy, There quite a few "buckeyes" on this site as well.
Yes, wait a few days after feeding to hold so they don't regurge.
Plastic plants are much better, no water or soil, snakes can't crush them, they can and will real ones.
I would recommend Kathy Love's book on cornsnakes
and also try using the "search" button to find answers and thread posts about any questions you may have in regards to corns. There are a ton of these with great advice. This is without a doubt the best and most knowledgeable cornsnake site in the world, friendliest as well!

Welcome to the Site!

Real plants tend to have bugs so stick with fake.

A 10 gal is fine for about a year and then you will have to upgrade. What do you mean by non pine/cedar chips?

I think we just thought that you might be using pine/cedar. Which could ultimately kill the snake. Since your not though, that is good. What are you using for a bedding? A lot of people use aspen for corn snakes.

It was just "generic" reptile jungle bedding. I think im going to change it up though. I wish i wasnt at work so i could upload some pictures.

When i get home i can post some pics up, that way you can see if im off to a good start, Ive never had a corn before, only snake ive ever owned was a garter i cought in my shed as a kid.
